To date, five individual Group 1 winners have been bred and raised at Car Colston Hall Stud – Crowded House (Racing Post Trophy), Ticker Tape (American Oaks & QEII Challenge Cup), Soldier Hollow (Premio Roma & Grosser Dallmayr-Preis), Reckless Abandon (Middle Park Stakes & Prix Morny) and Brando (Prix Maurice de Gheest).
Nicholas & Jane Forman Hardy started breeding racehorses in 1994 and in 1995 they went to Keeneland and bought the stud’s foundation mare Wiener Wald. Wiener Wald went on to become a Gr.1 producing mare being the dam of Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House. A number of her daughters and grand-daughters are continuing her legacy with Argent Du Bois producing Gr.1 winners Brando & Ticker Tape and Sant Elena producing Gr.1 winner Reckless Abandon and Gr.2 placed Best Approach.
The stud was developed in 1999 at their home in Nottinghamshire. It comprises one hundred and forty acres of prime grazing. The broodmare band now numbers approximately ten, plus followers. During the development of the stud, nothing was overlooked, with the aim to provide a safe, healthy natural environment for the breeding of horses.
At Car Colston Hall Stud, we have one main goal – to continue producing outstanding racehorses. We are very proud of the winners that have come from our stud and strive to continue producing top quality racehorses.
